I am grateful to Gordon Joy for providing an article entitled, “Short Sharp Tips for Beginners”. The article gives a number of worthwhile, interesting, and well-written tips for the bridge playing beginner.

As Gordon has pointed out, the majority of bridge articles found in newspapers and bridge books are written for the long-time initiated and as such are often heavy going. His article goes some way to redressing this situation.

It is worth noting that you do not have to be an expert bridge player in order to write for the columns published on this site.
